About Us

Shape began life in 1964, set up by my step father Brian Edwards with the aim to introduce modern, forward thinking furniture and design to the UK. Throughout his life he was fascinated by Scandinavian furniture design, and this led him eventually to be the first UK importer of the original Variable Kneeling Stool, designed by Norwegian Peter Opsvik.

On his retirement some 15 years ago my mother, Pam Edwards, decided to carry on working, choosing to focus her energy on the concept of kneeling chairs, and introducing this to as many physiotherapists as she could find.

She called it Shape Posture Seating.

Since then Shape has remained a family owned business, with mother, daughter, son, aunt, cousin and daughter in law, alongside our great staff, all equally passionate about the world of ergonomic chairs.

Now, the range of ergonomic chairs has grown exponentially! We still sell the original Variable Kneeling Chair, along with hundreds of other styles and concepts of home and office chairs. And this is why we have decided to start blog. Ergonomics is now so vast, we think people need a little bit more advice and information.
